Like snowboarders to skiers, cyclists to drivers, PC users to apple, sprayers and neighbours spark similar connotations.
Seespray can't change cyclists running red lights, snowboarders screaming in front of skiers on the slopes or help PC users see the light, but we can have a good crack at improving the sprayer/neighbour relationship.
Our team are a mix of sprayer and neighbours who can relate to both sides of the fence. We are committed to providing the best notification and management solutions for both sides of the fence - sprayers and neighbours.
Our founder Victoria Hodge was the classic example of a challenging neighbour. Multiple times, Victoria stopped a sprayer in their tracks, disrupting spraying because the sprayer showed up a week after they said they would. Calling their offices to find out what blocks were being sprayed, what the chemicals were, what she should do in preparation. Complaining about the orchard spray signs not being legible, and sold on the fact, that hicane was as close as it got to an apocalyptic compound. Victoria was the neighbour no sprayer looks forward to bumping into.
Mark Mayston loves everything Kiwifruit! Mark knows his industry is the backbone of the Bay Of Plenty and his family have been a key part of it for generations. Spraying, whether we like it or not, is a critical part of growing kiwifruit conventionally and organically. Mark appreciates where Victoria comes from, and unfortunately for both of them, in the past, there has never been any cost effective, practical solutions that offer anything close to what Mark can use in his organisation to address problems a neighbour like Victoria has.
Victoria, both the founder of Seespray and a neighbour of Kiwifruit orchards wanted better information to make more informed choices for her family and property, she felt she had the right to know if there were delays due to weather and jobs were rescheduled, she wanted to know what was actually being applied to do her own research and most importantly wanted to know at the touch of a button if she needed to hold off hanging out washing or keep the dog away from the orchard for the day and her chickens in their coop. She wanted a way to make living next to orchards more tolerable, she didn't like always being "that" neighbour or dealing with the extra stress and frustration it brought to her rural lifestyle.
Mark wants something easy to use in his organisation that reduces the workload and admin, not increasing it. Even though Victoria was at the higher end of the sensitivity scale, any solution Mark had to use in his organisation, needed to address those types of neighbours as well as those at the lower end.
Seespray is a solution both Mark and Victoria believe in, who have not only built, but have successfully implemented into their lives as end users with fantastic results.

"I felt very strongly, having lived around orchards for over 5 years, that the communication of spraying around me could be better. I saw an opportunity to help both sides of the fence, help sprayers be more efficient, and neighbours of orchards get better information. I want to make living working and playing in growing areas easier for everyone, including my family". |
